Rob Clayton’s Real Bubbles | Gallery
A full collection of real reflections captured on soap bubbles
London
London is presented through a collection of Rob Clayton’s Real Bubbles photographs, capturing reflections of its most iconic landmarks including Tower Bridge, the London Eye, St Paul’s Cathedral, and HM Treasury. Within each image, the capital’s dense architectural identity is compressed into the fragile surface of soap bubbles, where scale, structure, and familiarity are reinterpreted through natural optical distortion.
Manchester
Rob Clayton’s Real Bubbles were captured across Manchester city centre, where reflections of architecture, movement, and light are compressed into the curved surface of soap bubbles. Locations such as Market Street, the Royal Exchange, Central Linbrary, China Town and surrounding urban spaces appear distorted and reinterpreted through natural optical refraction, creating fleeting versions of the city that exist for only moments.
Chester
Chester is represented in Rob Clayton’s Real Bubbles series through reflections of its historic architecture, including the Eastgate Archway and clock, Chester Cathedral, and surrounding city centre landmarks. These familiar structures are transformed into curved, unstable compositions on the surface of soap bubbles, where centuries-old architecture is reduced into temporary optical distortions of light and form.
Liverpool
Liverpool is explored through a series of Rob Clayton’s Real Bubbles photographs, capturing reflections of its most recognisable landmarks, including the Royal Liver Building, St George’s Hall, and the Beatles Statue. These iconic structures are compressed and distorted on the surface of soap bubbles, transforming the city’s waterfront heritage and cultural identity into fleeting, refracted moments shaped by light, curvature, and chance.
The One That Got Away
Rob caught this once-in-a-lifetime bubble during a private commission at the exact split second it began to burst from back to front…but its out of focus!
